Why we made it

The Strand ATR (All Terrain) features a custom designed, trail-specific outsole with strategic cushioning, puncture protection, and buffed-up traction suitable for the most rugged trails. This is your best choice for rucking, trekking, or advanced hiking on your favorite trails, and medium-to-high impact gym or other fitness activities.

While we've been programmed to believe you need a rigid, high-top boot for hiking, the Strand ATR is the best hiking shoe you'll ever wear. Instead of stomping over terrain and dispersing impact inappropriately throughout your lower body, the Strand ATR allows your feet to gracefully navigate even the most challenging obstacles and rough surfaces with the dexterity you need to be safe, stay in balance, and absorb impact efficiently.

Our specialized EVA midsole is reinforced with Kevlar™ fiber puncture-proof fabric, while the Jacquard mesh upper with midfoot overlay reinforcements has been treated with a Durable Water-Repellent (DWR) finish, providing some basic protection from the elements (not waterproof.) Enjoy the convenience of the ATR’s quick-lace system to cinch up and head out for adventures.
Size & Fit
- We recommend ordering a one-half to one full size larger than your typical sports shoe size, especially if you are new to the snug five-toe feel.
- Peluvas are great with or without five-toe socks, but if you use socks, definitely go a full size higher.
- Please use the "What is my Peluva size" foot-scan tool to dial-in your best size. This button is right next to the sizing options on the shoe. We guarantee satisfaction and easy returns, but let's get things right the first time!

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

That's why we offer a generous 30-day, no-questions-asked return policy for all our shoes with our $3.98 Redo purchase insurance option available at checkout. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase (outside any issues due to factory defects, which are on us!), you may return the shoes within 30 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price.

Please include all original tags and packaging with your return, wipe all items in your return clean from any debris, and keep damage during your trial of fit and feel to a reasonable minimum.

Please note that we only accept returns within the United States. International returns will not be accepted.

At this time, we do not provide complimentary shipping or return labels for international orders. If you opt to return an order at your expense, we will process an exchange or refund once your order is received at our warehouse. All shipping costs and brokerage fees for customs are set by the courier.

Excellent Everyday Use
About two months in with this pair and they are holding up great. The outsole grip is FANTASTIC.
My fist pair were the Strand Lightweight Trainers. Compared to those, the ATR are run a bit larger because the material is thinner, but they are much more breathable. Something to keep in mind for first-time buyers.
I use the ATR five days a week, 9 hours a day, and they perform excellently. I recently took them on a trip to Costa Rica and they were great for hiking and trail running.
Instead of a traditional laces, they have those sliding clips. I'm curious to see how they hold up in the long run. My experience with them on other shoes is that over time they are unable to remain tight. If that happens here, though, I'll just replace them with regular laces.
Overall, they are comfortable, durable, and look great.

Trying to cure my PF.
I have been at whits in with doctors, shoes, insoles, and prescription insoles. The custom ones absolutely made my plantar fasciitis. So this is a last ditch effort to fix my problems. Obviously toes are gonna have to get tougher and stronger. I have been using toe socks for some time to help with corns and toe pain as well as use toe spacers so I’m used to the spreading. But I just started these last week. Unfortunately work won’t approve them so I wear to work and home that’s about it. I did my first convention this weekend to really test them as far standing and walking on carpet. They did great toes are sore after a few hours but overall I have more control and balance I need. Not sure if it’ll help fix or I need time I’m also flat footed and didn’t have as much of the pain I normally do.

It is encouraging to hear you felt better control, balance, and less of your usual flat foot pain during the convention. Toe soreness early on is very common as those muscles wake up. Love them!
I wear these all day. Most comfortable shoes I own. And they have almost completely healed my fasciitis.
I love the looks they get from people. They are shocked when the see them but its always a positive response.
Long days on my feet are enjoyable again.

If you have a bunion and LONG second toe, read this!
I am amazed! This is the only shoe that I can wear all day long not not have my bunion feel like it is going to explode - check out the ugly picture! The history about my cramped toes and bunion: I ran track through college and jammed my feet into very tight track spikes, then spent 38 years in small toe box dress shoes (I was a CEO), and now play tennis using shoes that don't help the situation.
On top of that, I have the long second toes that make every shoe fit problematic.
On longer! I have had the strand atr for 4 days and have had zero issues. I'm a size 9 and ordered a 9.5 along with the socks (I'm now using toe socks with my tennis shoes). The long toe has a little space and at first I thought it was rubbing against the edge while walking, but that is starting to go away as I wear the shoe. The other toes have a good gap, so ordering a 10 might be too much. Most of what I am feeling is the toe actually doing its job on the surface of the ground, which is something you might have to get used to.
For kicks, I did a few sprinting bursts and felt like I could run 10.1 in the 100 again! I wear them around the house, for walks, and working out.
What are the downsides?
1) Getting used to how to put them on. By day 2, I figured out that if I WIGGLED MY TOES while sliding my foot on, the toes find the slots much easier.
2) Deciding whether to go a half size larger or one size larger regarding the toe fit. There is some contradictory info on the website about fit - one…
