How do I know my size?

In general, we find that it's best to order a half-size larger than your regular running shoe. While we offer standard shoe sizing, Peluvas have one basic common foot pattern, to accommodate your individual toes. This common outline is intended to fit most people. Of course, this pattern increases or decreases based on shoe size. Some people have a longer second toe than the first (or big) toe. Others have a longer than average pinkie toe. In these cases, you might try buying a half size larger than your normal shoe size. It is not necessary that every toe extends all the way into each toe box. We recommend that you use our fitting app underneath the size chart of each product.

They feel weird at first. Is this normal?

Many people have never had the experience of wearing “gloves for the feet.” As such, it might feel a bit unusual at first to have your toes in separate compartments. Most people find that after a few minutes of wearing them, they begin to enjoy the feeling and appreciate the newfound freedom of having their toes able to move up and down over surfaces unevenly. After a few times wearing Peluvas, regular shoes might start to feel cramped, an indication of how uncomfortable regular shoes generally are. Over time, you'll find Peluvas to be far more comfortable than any other shoes.

Can I run in Peluvas?

Running in minimalist shoes is an entirely different challenge from running in regular running shoes. It takes very strong and well-adapted feet to be able to effectively and efficiently run in any minimalist shoes - including Peluvas. If the small muscles of your feet have not become acclimated (adapted) to covering longer distances barefoot, it’s best to not run much - or at all - in any minimalist shoes. Our advice is to spend your day going barefoot when appropriate and/or wearing various styles of Peluvas (in the house, at work, walking distances, at the gym, running errands, going out, etc) putting the muscles of your feet through various easy movements and ranges of motion which, over time, will allow those muscles to get stronger. Then, when it’s time to run (or play soccer or tennis or basketball), put on the shoes that were designed for that sport. Your feet will thank you.

    Spectacular

    I have only worn these shoes a couple of times so far, and I am still getting used to the toe splay in the shoe, however, they really have made me feel lighter on my feet. I went for a ruck yesterday with my weighted vest and I could feel my whole leg working and my knees were not bearing all the weight. I can’t wait to go on my first medium trail hike with them and see how they hold up. If you are on the fence, hop off and grab a pair you will definitely be glad you did.

    Amazing!!

    They’re a little odd at first but then you adjust and it’s the best shoe I’ve ever worked out in and it’s really cute. 10/10 go up at least 1 size imo

    Love them!

    After getting them and discovering a stitching error, they sent me a new pair out quick. So glad I listened to others and sized up a half size. My regular 10 would have been too small. They fit perfectly. There is more cushion than I am used to, but I will be using these in the mornings for 3-5 mile dog walks on concrete. My regular vivobarefoot don’t have enough cushion and my feet start to hurt. My altras have too much. This is the perfect balance if you’ll be walking a lot on very hard surfaces.

    The best!!

    I’m so glad that Peluva came out with a running shoe with a slightly thicker bottom to last a bit longer than the Strands. I also love that these shoes are in a light shade of purple!

    It took a bit to adjust to these shoes, as well as building a strong aerobic base, but these are my sole shoes of choice & I am running 70+miles each week now [started at about 10 weekly miles over 2 years ago]. They are the comfiest shoes to wear & I don’t get any foot pain or blisters in these shoes, which I would experience constantly in other barefoot-like / zero-drop running shoes.

    This is my 4th pair of Peluva’s & I will continue to wear these on all of my morning runs.

    Lacings have changed

    Got my new shoes today. I'm not happy with the new lacing system as it makes it hard to open up the shoe enough to get my foot in. I need a shoehorn! Also the turquoise blue laces clash with the army green shoe color.

    Hoping all of this won't matter when it rains and I wear them outside!
